Part 58
NKJ Genesis 6:7
So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have
created from the face of the earth, both man and beast,
creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that
I have made them."
NKJ Genesis 6:7
So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have
created from the face of the earth, both man and beast,
creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that
I have made them."
NKJ Genesis 6:7
So the LORD said,
This is a decree of God, that is why the narrative of Moses is here given over to the direct words of Yahweh’s speech in quotes.
whom I have created
from the face of the earth,
I will destroy mankind (men and women) -imperfect tense
From mah-chah meaning to wipe, to wipe out out to blot out, to rub out = to exterminate
Word-
Action: to smear, as the smearing of the marrow onto a food; to rub, to wipe.
NKJ Genesis 6:7
So the LORD said,
I will destroy mankind This is a very vivid and dramatic expression of a decree, that God is going to smear mankind back upon the face of the soil particulates from which he had originally been created.
whom I have created
from the face of the earth,
Let’s look at this prepositional phrase more carefully...
First, the phrasing does not go like this: “I will destroy mankind (whom I have created) from the face of the earth,”
Rather, it should be read like this: “I will destroy mankind (whom I have created from the face of the earth),”
Also, the preposition ‘from’ that begins the phrase is actually composed of two prepositions contracted together:
from the face of the earth, = +
expresses the idea of separation, hence out of, from
expresses the idea of that which is upon something, in this case “whom I have created (of particulates) from upon the face of the earth;” that is, from the dust of the face of the earth.”
The closest likening I can think of is to the potter who is disappointed with his work, and strikes it in order to eradicate it, then crushes the clay from which it is made, by smearing it back into the lump from which it came.
Yet, God’s “rubbing out” process is limited to a distinctively delineated range of precise slices out from among all living things that God had created.
Here is how Yahweh describes the slicing, or separating process: as three ranges of creatures created…
a preposition denoting motion to or direction towards, whether physical, or mental, or spiritual; as a limit, not generally entered into.
…from man-kind through beast-creature-kind (through = up to and including)
…from man-kind through creeping-creature-kind (through = up to and including)
…from man-kind through flying-creature-kind (through = up to and including)
through = up to and including

NKJ Genesis 10:19
And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon as you
go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; then as you go
toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim,
as far as Lasha.
up to and including the places Gaza and Lasha
NKJ Genesis 11:31
And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot,
the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son
Abram's wife, and they went out with them from Ur of
the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they
came to Haran and dwelt there.
up to and including the place of Haran
NKJ Genesis 19:22
"Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there." Therefore the name of the city
was called Zoar.
up to and including the time after you arrive there
NKJ Genesis 26:13
The man began to prosper, and continued prospering
until he became very prosperous;
up to and including the time of much prosperity
NKJ Exodus 12:22
"And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the
blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the
two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin.
And none of you shall go out of the door of his house
until morning.
up to and including the time after morning arrives
Now, let’s switch to the other example…
“unto” = up to and excluding

NKJ Genesis 2:19
Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast
of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them
to Adam to see what he would call them.
And whatever Adam called each living creature,
that was its name.
This kind of expression is obviously a two-step process:
1. first, come before (unto) the ark,
2. then, enter into it.
Now let’s look at a more important implication we can draw from this discovery…
NKJ Genesis 6:6
And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the
earth, and He was grieved in ( unto) His heart.
The grief God experienced was that which, from the outside, spoke unto His heart.
NKJ Genesis 6:7
So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have
created from the face of the earth, both man and beast,
creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that
I have made them."
for I am sorry -
I am grieved
From- Root “to continue outside”
that I have made them. -
Word
“to continue outside to flow”
I am grieved by My own doings.
His grieve generated by the sin of the fallen world will be fully eased from flowing against, and addressing His heart, when He takes vengeance in that Day to come.
Implication:
The decree of our Creator-God is not to annihilate every trace of sinful mankind in the day of Noah by utterly destroying every component of his existence, but the decree was to remove the life He had given to that slice out from all of creation, by removing the breath of life (soul), and returning the bodies to dust.
The image of God had already been displaced within mankind; therefore, the souls have been returned to God, where they will be kept until the Day of Resurrection and Judgment.
In the meantime, the physical bodies of the corrupted creation would have been returned to their place of origin, to the soil (dust) upon the face of the earth, by an action that God was about to take by means of a great flood.
Think about this kind of expression which is obviously a two-step process; first unto the ark, then to enter into it.
Now think of the words of Jesus the Christ, who is speaking unto your heart right now, saying, “Come unto Me.”
It is not enough merely to come unto Christ.
By faith you must also enter into Christ and into His righteousness in order to receive His gift of eternal salvation.
Many will be surprised on the Day of Judgment when they discover that it was just as the Word of God says; only the righteousness of Christ is able to save you.All men are sinners and no one can save himself. God is just, so He must punish sin; but He is also merciful, moreover gracious, and offers His Son as the perfect sacrifice in order to purchase a place for you in heaven, which He offers to you as the free gift of eternal life. As we continue to examine man’s earliest duties with regard to the covenant of works, although they can be categorically divided into two distinct types of classes; one in relationship with God, and the other in relationship with fellow man, all covenant stipulations are expressions of the will of the Lord. The law of the covenant is the law of man’s image-sonship.
Jesus is God Incarnate
In order to pay the debt of our sins, He came from Heaven, having been sent by the Father, where He lived a life of perfect obedience to the Father even unto the shameful death upon the cross in order to pay the debt of your sins. This gift must be received by faith, believing that Jesus’ perfect life and Cross Work was His complete and necessary Atonement for your sins, in your behalf.Faith is a gift that comes by the Power of God the Holy Spirit working in a person’s innermost being. The Holy Spirit has the authority and power to quicken your dead spirit, to make it come to life. If you have not done so before this moment, ask Jesus to forgive you your sins, tell Him you’ve stop trying to be your own savior, and ask Him to come into your life right now, and to give you eternal life. Then, in faith believing, thank Him for the gift that He is giving you, the one He paid for in full in your place, in Jesus’ name,AMEN
